Crepidula onyx, common name the “onyx slippersnail” or “onyx slipper snail”, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Calyptraeidae, the slipper snails. The native range for this species is the Eastern Pacific Ocean coast of the Americas, from Southern California to Chile. It is an invasive species in the countries along the Western Pacific Ocean, e.g., China, Korea and Japan. This one is a dead shell found on the beach of Chiba City, Japan (a city along the Tokyo Bay). This species has established its population in the Tokyo Bay since 1960s [1][2].
